Wow.  According to the latest stats from Flurry – one of the world’s largest providers of mobile apps analytics – over the last 60 days no less than 89% of new app project starts are aimed at the iPhone OS.  67% are for the iPhone and 22% for the iPad.

Admittedly these numbers are probably at a real peak during these last 60 days, as that coincides with the time that has passed since the iPad was first announced.

My iPhone should be sad today – not due to a springboard crash, but because the BBC iPhone apps planned for release next month have been postponed.  The reasons for the apps being postponed are all ‘political’ – with other news organizations in the UK lobbying against them because the BBC is publicly funded and seen to have unfair advantages over the others, or at least that’s my quick, clumsy summary of what I’ve read on the matter.

Announcing that SEAS, the developer of DozeGuard, today released an update to this helpful tool for all audio lovers using an iPhone or iPod touch. The app allows to play audio titles from the users media library while constantly monitoring whether the user is still awake. If the user didn’t move the device for a certain time, the app stops playing the title and records the current position. If the title is then selected the next time, the user may easily locate the last position.

The app stores the position of the last move (where the user proved to be awake) and the position of the automatic stop (where the user was already sleeping). By providing buttons to easily jump to these position, the user may quickly locate the position to resume listening.
